FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LSA North, Inc at the Sports & Vacation Show

January 23, 2008

Light Sport Aircraft North, Inc will have on display the Flight Design CT at the Rochester Sports & Vacation Show this weekend.

The FAA authorized the LSA category of aircraft in September 2005.  Since that time, there are over 50 different new models and manufacturers offering aircraft in the United States.

Flight Design CT has delivered over 240 aircraft in the United States and commands over 21% of the entire LSA market.  Flight Design CT dates back to pre 1996 and is manufactured in the Ukraine and Germany (as are most LSA of European origin).

LSA North Inc. is the upper Midwest distributor for the Flight Design CT and headquartered at the Airlake (KLVN) airport in Lakeville MN.  LSA North, Inc. also provides flight instruction and rental in the CT out of Airlake, and is forming partnerships with area flight schools.

Aviation jobs, and sport pilots, are a growing market.  With over 1,000 aircraft registered in the first two years, it is expected to grow to 5,000 by the year 2010.

Flight Schools, and aircraft owners, are coming to the CT because of its safety record and low operating costs.  Each CT comes standard with the BRS whole-plane parachute, pilot safety harnesses, extremely tough composite material construction, and time proven Rotax engines.  Fuel burn on a CT is less than half of a comparable Cessna 172 with many owners and flight schools reporting only 3 to 4 gallons per hour.  In addition, the CT can run on auto gas or aviation fuel!

The Sport Pilot license allows many people to return to aviation because it does not require a Third Class Medical Certificate, but only a valid state driver’s license.  The cost for new student pilots to obtain a Sport Pilot rating vs. a Private Pilot rating is roughly $ 3,000~$ 5,000 vs. $7,000~$10,000!  Be a Sport Pilot in just 20 hours!

Sport Pilot licensure limits the pilot to daytime flights in good weather, aircraft under 1,320 pounds gross weight, 100 horsepower, 120 knots (138 miles per hour), and two seats.  All training in an LSA will count toward future advanced ratings and is a great way to enter aviation at a reduced initial cost.  The stall speed of the CT is a very slow 39 knots and is easy to fly!

The CT may be listed as a Light Sport Aircraft, but the cabin width at 49 inches is wider than most larger general aviation aircraft.  The CT cruises at 115 knots @ 75% power, which is also faster than most general aviation aircraft, and burns less than half the fuel.
