Flight Planning Tools for Sport Pilots from LSA North Inc

Below are links to flight planning web sites and tools that we believe will help you to be a better, safer, pilot.  We encourage you to learn, and use, these tools with each flight you make whether with us, or elsewhere.  Please remember that your specific POH, personal abilities and flight tolerances, and FAA regulations will take precedence over any documents listed within.

All new students, and returning renters, must download, review, and sign for our files the above policies and procedures we have created for your safety, and compliance with the regulations.  Please also bring to your first lesson, or next lesson if you have not yet done so, a photo copy of your valid State Drivers License, and/or birth certificate or passport (per FAA regulations), and Student Pilot Certificate or Medical Certificate.  New students, please also complete this information sheet and bring with you to your first lesson.

This is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that will assist you in flight planning.  It includes Maintenance due times, weight & balance, cross-wind calculators, V-speeds, and more.  It is the PIC who must ensure than an aircraft is not over-flown on Tach time when an annual, 100 hour, other inspection or oil change is due per FAA regulations.  Check this prior to each flight.  Aircraft listed are 906LA, 217PW, 376CT, 218AW & 49FS  These are tools to assist you, the official POH and individual aircraft weight & balance, and maintenance log books take precedence over this summary listing.  Last revised 11AUG08.

Download this form to write down your weather and NOTAMs received during your pre-flight briefing from Flight Service and other weather services.  All students and renters must complete this form prior to each flight.  Last revised 16JUN08.

Local Rental & Cross Country Pre-flight Planning Form

All students and renters must complete the above flight planning form prior to any solo flights; local or cross-country.  It may only be a short local flight, or the same cross-country you did last week, but completing this form prior to your flight will enhance your overall flight safety and situational awareness.  Last revised 27MAY08.

Flight Design USA has published the Aircraft Operating Instructions ~ AOI (which is the Light Sport equivalent of a Pilot Operating Handbook ~ POH or Aircraft Flight Manual ~ AFM) for the CT2K, CTSW and CTLS.  Also included is the Flight Training Supplement ~ FTS.   

Student Pilots and aircraft renters please print a copy and carry with you in your flight bag.  Please also download and read the AOI instructions.

 
LSA North ~ Custom Checklist for Flight Design CTsw

This checklist was created as a training tool for our flight students for use in our CTsw aircraft.  We encourage all pilots to use it.  It does not replace the factory supplied AOI and factory checklist.

Schedule Master

To reserve an LSA North, Inc. aircraft and/or instructor pilot.  Be sure to telephone or email your instructor when you make a change to a schedule as we do not monitor this site 24/7.  All renters must have a verbal flight release from LSA North management prior to each flight, on the day of the flight.  Please also keep your contact information up to date in the computer.  It is your responsibility to also check for any aircraft SQUAWKS on this site prior to your flight.

How to Make Proper Radio Calls

LSA North, inc. Practical Test Standards for the Sport Pilot
