The most important part of learning to fly is a quality Ground School. This is where you will obtain the knowledge to turn you into a competent, and safe, pilot. Don't be fooled that you can do this on your own via a self-study DVD or textbook course, or in a sales gimmick "free" ground school. A good ground school with other pilots, and a few private ground sessions with your CFI, will cost a few dollars, but in the long run this is what will give you the skills to fly safely and skillfully. Flight training begins on the ground, not in the air.
